If one looks across a broad range of food and drink manufacturing processes, there is a large demand for high quality, dry steam. One company that knows all about this is Bristol-based Fulton Limited.
From the pasteurisation of milk, dairy and juice products to jet cooking and the cleaning of brewery kegs, the list of applications is almost endless and, says Carl Knight, Fulton's UK and European sales and marketing manager: "Fulton has been heavily involved with steam raising across many industries for many years but since the beginning of 2010, we have been majoring on the food and drink sectors.
"Paul Richards, our managing director, and I both joined Fulton in 2009 with the aim of giving the company new direction and momentum. The combination of a very successful Foodex show earlier this year and a major marketing campaign means we are really beginning to see the rewards, despite the current recession." says Carl.
The Fulton name has been synonymous with steam since the company first introduced the vertical tubeless steam boiler in 1949 and Fulton was established in Bristol in 1966. Fulton is still one of the world's leading manufacturers, producing an unrivalled range of multi-fuel steam boilers. But increasingly these are ordered by customers as part of bespoke turnkey systems designed to meet exacting specifications.
Today Fulton Limited is an important design and manufacturing base in Fulton's global network that also includes production facilities in the USA and China. The company's UK facility makes it possible to manufacture products more efficiently and assemble completed units for whenever and wherever they are needed throughout the UK and in export markets.
Once just a steam boiler manufacturer, Fulton now specialises in ready-to-ship skid mounted and fully packaged boiler plant rooms to meet the current demand for off-site fabrication. The company puts great emphasis in providing sales and application advice and a full commissioning and after sales service to a growing customer base in hospital and healthcare facilities, food and beverage processing, laundries and other applications.
Design and manufacturing resources are shared and coordinated around the world, but no matter where your product originates, it will always be produced to the highest quality in a facility that is wholly owned and managed by the Fulton Group, which remains a privately owned family business.
Fulton's heating and hot water systems can be delivered as fully prefabricated plant rooms or complete skid-mounted units, built to fit a prepared location and connect direct to your services.
Using the latest CAD equipment its design team can accommodate the most sophisticated engineering specifications in surprisingly compact spaces, locating components in the best possible position to suit the installation.
In every sense, today's Fulton boiler systems are solutions that fit the requirements of the modern age of steam.
Fulton cider sponsorship benefits help for heroes.
Fulton Limited has supported a local beer and cider festival with the sponsorship of a barrel of cider, profits from which will benefit the Help for Heroes charity.
Now in its sixth year, Backwell's beer and cider festival forms part of a programme of events, all of which raise funds for the Village Club and registered charities.
Commenting for the Backwell Village Club, chairman and event organiser Martyn Howell says: "We are delighted to be supporting Help for Heroes at a time when many charities are losing vital donations. Our thanks go to all those involved in the festival and we are proud to announce that many thousands of pounds will be making its way to this excellent cause."
Fulton sponsored a 6% Wilkins cider, which is known to many as 'Infamous Rog's Brew' and was described in the Festival Programme as 'made to be enjoyed!'
Fulton provides key support to Atlantic Linen Services
For the second time in a couple of years, Fulton has provided assistance to Atlantic Linen, this time after they moved to larger premises following a fire that ripped through its previous premises.
In 2007, a steam generator at Atlantic's original facility failed, leaving them without a steam source. However, following a call to Fulton a reconditioned 30E steam boiler was supplied, installed and up and running within a few days.
Within eighteen months of this being installed, Atlantic was forced to relocate after its premises were destroyed by fire following a spontaneous combustion incident.
This time, a new, ex-stock Fulton RBC1850 horizontal steam boiler was specified and the new system made available within weeks. This quick response played an important part in establishing Atlantic's larger laundry. Fulton was also able to save the previously installed 30E boiler, which was re-commissioned and now acts as a backup during planned shutdown and maintenance.
